Puddles

What is the virtue in moving forward?
Walking thirsty in rain because the bottle's back home
So you count raindrops instead
A billion and one, a billion and two...
Drip then drop, tick then tock.
Why look back?
The water can't hold footprints
The puddles don't remember you
There's no memory in this rain
It falls and it forgets.
Why dream?
like dust and leaves,
by morning, everything washes away.

If so,
I pray it takes your sadness too.
I pray it leaves a shining sun.
I pray this rain washes you so
the salts of your tears never touch your tongue.
