Tale of a Penguin
The Tale of a Penguin
I imagine I appear over a frozen
horizon
A figure of black and white
And as a shield of snow
overshadows vision
I am gone over the hills
Like the ephemeral joys of
childhood
To most I appear vulnerable
My figure jocular
And my actions blithe
Instead I showcase resilience
And display undeterred
determination
My life confined to the
limitations of cold
And my body trapped on a prison of
ice
I walk the endless miles of
chilled paths
For basics of survival
And all I carry is my audacity for
hope
A cliff breaks off in my sight
One of jaw dropping height
Water waits down below
So I embrace the wind as I slide
off
And gracefully enter the frosty aqueous
world
A whole another dimension
Azure surroundings cushion me
As I sink down towards the bed
My seemingly useless wings
separate
I’m swept away with the current
Sunlight refracted hits my back
I take flight in shimmers of blue
Fish of innumerable colors
collectively crowd
And I’m lost to the beauty of the
sea
Floating aimlessly in the expanse
